General Guidelines
I do not impose rigid rules on what is allowed and what is not. I try to be liberal whilst accounting for users expectations and with the overriding factor that this is a Christian website.
Please remember that this is not a personal website but one which is endorsed by Barlanark Church of Scotland. I have to give consideration to what they would find acceptable.
Personal abuse is never acceptable. Mild "ribbing" or "winding-up" is ok so long as it is not sustained or getting out of hand.
Strong swear words are never acceptable. Other, more common, mild swear words are only acceptable when used in context, such as a quote from a film or music lyrics. They should not be used as part of a normal post.
References to illegal activities are unacceptable.
Please keep all posts "on-topic". It is acceptable to digress where the post is still within the "spirit" of the original post. Off-topic posts will be deleted or moved.
The forum is not a chat-room. Please avoid 1-to-1 conversations when posting.
No spamming.
The same general rules apply to Private Messages. Please note that the board Admins have full access to all read and unread private messages.
Moderators
You may notice that some users on the board have their name in "a colour", probably green , but it depends on the colour scheme you have chosen. This, typically, is because they have been given Moderator status.
This means that they have the ability to edit, delete and split topics.
They will follow the guidelines laid out below.
Moderator Guidelines
If a moderator edits or removes a post, the poster will be notified and an explanation of why the action was taken will be given.
Moderator actions are logged so that in the event of a dispute, the relevant material can be referred to.
Posts will not be deleted, but moved to a non-public quarantine area.
Moderators will not get involved in public arguments. The admin and mod team will be impartial as far as is possible. Expressing opinions such as favourite bands, etc. does not fall under this stricture.
Overall, remember that this board is used by a wide age range. Moderators provide a framework within which we allow freedom of expression but there are boundaries.
If you do have any problems or questions, please contact me and I will try and sort it.
Ultimately, as admin, I have the final word on what is acceptable and what is not. I also have the right to modify and add to this list of rules.
